CONFLICT RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE
Judge Ramirez retired after 13 years of service on both state and federal courts, returning to the practice of law and beginning his career in private judging, specializing in commercial litigation. From 1990-96, Judge Ramirez was a Senior Litigation Partner in the Sacramento office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he focused primarily on complex litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution procedures, i.e., court appointed special master, mediator, private settlement conference judge, neutral and party arbitrator.
From 1980 to 1990, Judge Ramirez served as a Federal District Court Judge, Eastern District of California; and as an Appellate Judge, by appointment, to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. From 1977-1980, he served as a Superior and Municipal Court Judge in Sacramento County, California.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Ramirez represented clients in tort litigation at the state and federal court levels.
