Hon. Victor H. Persón
Los Angeles County Superior Court, Retired

A very well-known and highly-respected jurist and a Los Angeles Daily Journal Top Neutral in 2009, Judge Victor Persón brings a wealth of experience to ARC after more than two decades of public service on the bench. He has an impeccable track record as a judge as well as a reputation for integrity. From the moment he retired, Judge Persón has been in high demand as a mediator and arbitrator and has resolved a variety of complex, multi-milliondollar disputes. He has also served as a member of an arbitration tribunal handling a large construction defect case and as a discovery referee on high-profile matters.

All types of complex litigation, including business/commercial, class actions, construction defect, discovery, eminent domain, employment, entertainment, insurance coverage, medical and legal malpractice, personal injury, product liability, and real estate, among others.

Judge Persón was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 1992 and spent the last seven years as a civil Fast Track judge handling hundreds of complex cases, including class actions involving asbestos, construction defect, and wage and hour issues. Judge Persón also handled law and motion, civil trials and settlement conferences while assigned to the Pomona court from 1993-1995.

As a Pasadena Municipal Court Judge from 1985-1992, Judge Persón gained recognition for his involvement in the Lamb Funeral Home matter, a highly-publicized case with the longest preliminary proceedings in Pasadena history. Judge Persón also spent many years as a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney in the Consumer & Environment Protection Division prosecuting unfair competition and false advertising cases, a position which exposed him to civil law and required frequent trips to the law and motion courts.

Attorneys offer “nothing but compliments” about Judge Persón and say he is “amiable but no-nonsense,” has a “very good understanding of the law,” and is thorough and well-prepared. Attorneys like him because “he settles cases.”
