CONFLICT RESOLUTION EXPERIENCE
Mr. Levy has handled matters involving the U.S. Department of Labor, the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Product Safety Commission, CalOSHA and California and New York state labor agencies. He has successfully litigated major disputes in federal and state courts. In 2005, he won a Writ of Mandate in the case of Caliber Body Works v. Superior Court, 134 Cal. App. 4th 365, which established the standards for bringing employment related claims under the California Private Attorney General Act (PAGA). He has represented talent agencies, business management firms and other clients in the entertainment industry. He has negotiated and litigated artist agreements, concerts, tours and merchandising, as well as multi-million-dollar licensing, endorsement and merchandizing agreements, and has represented major international companies in the fashion and apparel industry in litigation transactions and government relations including Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas and Williams-Sonoma. Representing the apparel industry, he worked with the Governor’s office, the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement and human rights groups in drafting the California Labor Code Garment Manufacturing Act.
From 1992-1996, Mr., Levy served as General Counsel of the international fashion and apparel company Guess?, Inc., where he managed complex litigation, licensing and business transactions, government relations and the company’s public offering.
In 1995, he was appointed by President Clinton to the White House Apparel Industry Partnership which developed standards to assure that apparel and footwear products made overseas and sold in the US comply with fair labor and employment standards.
